Nature Rewired Commissioner Pitch

Here I showcase my work as part of the Science Communication for a Better Planet Master's Summer placement Pitch to Commissioners. The presentation covered: - the rationale for your proposed project  - your target audience  - methods of communication  - measure(s) of success  My research for this pitch focussed on the immersive experiences specifically as a form of scientific communication. This began from the initial summer project proposal of working on a businesscase for Bristol Virtual Zoo. Completing market research allowed me to identify the current competitors that this virtual zoo would have and I designed an experience concept of recreating senses from other animals to provide a novel sensory experience. A lot of my research went into animal sense systems, how we could try to recreate it, working alongside University contacts who specialise in these sense systems, from fiddler crab vision to bee electroreception. On the contrast, I also completed extensive research into the world of immersive experiences, how they are used in entertainment but also in gaming. Providing a hands-on, gamified experience appears to be what sets apart good and uninspired immersive experiences. As a keen tech lover it was very engaging to combine my love of science with the world of gaming to provide science communication in a new way. Currently this project may not come to fruition, but creating and researching the pitch was still a very fruitful process into understanding business development.

Alopecure

During my undergraduate degree at the University of Manchester, I had the oppurtunity to build a business plan for a potential pharmaceutical as part of the Life Science Entreprise Project (LSEP) throughout my final year. I built vital business skills from this module alongside my hardworking team of 5 other students. Below I showcase the final assessed piece, the pitch to investors.
