Project type

Videography, content creation

For this project myself and my group (Amy Parsons, Bee Groom) were tasked with producing a one minute tiktok-style video which would be used as part of a tiktok nature trail. Each team selected a different location along the bristol Harbourside and explored the biology around it. We selected lichen biodiversity due to its visually appealing colours and accessibility. I was the primary camerawoman and edittor for this piece and used the Canon C200 with the 24mm-100mm Zoom lens to capture the close ups of the tiny but abundant organisms. I was also involved in the research which informed the captions as well as the song selection of the video. This project was a great chance for me to further develop my camera skills which I had been working on extracurricularly with my gym videography. The canon c200 is a very manual machine which makes it more time consuming to master but ultimately the shots produced are a testiment to the quality of this equipment. I further increased the aesthetics of the video by learning how to colour grade using premier pro, which gave an edge to the professional look of our video. Ultimately there are still things that could be improved, such as the contrast with the text, but overall I was delighted by the look of the final product. I also took on the task of producing a poster which compiled all of the student's video onto a map. A fellow student produced the map and I produced all illustrations and designed the poster using a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Indesign.
